One person is dead following a shooting on M’Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island.
UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service says yesterday morning around 1:30 am, there was a shooting at a Pine Street residence.
Police say when officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot and began life-saving measures… The victim was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police say witnesses observed a vehicle in the area of the shooting earlier in the evening and relayed the information to the OPP.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the occupants in Little Current.
Police are actively working on the investigation, which is in the early stages and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
The police service adds the incident is believed to be a targeted and isolated.
