Enlarging the carbon footprint in a good way

The Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy continues to enlarge its carbon footprint in a good way.

Conservancy executive director, Bob Barnett, say seven properties, about 1,200 acres in all , is now protected including four on the Manitoulin.

Barnett says the properties cost $3-million and include a forest tract near Silverwater, another near the Queen Elizabeth: Queen Mother M’Nidoo M’Nissing Provincial Park, escarpment property at Wolsley Lake and the Lewis Twin Peaks Trail in Sheguiandah.

He says they plan to reopen the Lewis Trail and will look at more trail development on the other sites.

Barnett adds the other three properties they acquired are all on the Bruce Trail.
