City clarifies plans for Westview Park

Elliot Lake is removing some equipment from Westview Park and adding more.

City CAO Daniel Gagnon says there is some misinformation about what is happening with the park.

He says two pieces of sound-emitting equipment for autistic children at is being relocated to the Fire Tower Lookout because vandals kept disturbing nearby residents at night.

He adds the city is adding five more pieces of playground equipment with the balance of the autism spectrum friendly equipment remaining in place.

Gagnon emphasizes neighbouring homeowners have a right to quiet enjoyment of their park, but the abuse by vandals has led to the decision to solve the noise concern.
