Plenty of conversation at city hall meeting on recreation hub

Elliot Lake council will discuss the input from the public about the recreation hub following its first combined Zoom and in-person meeting.

The meeting, which took place at the Collins Hall last week, was highlighted with a presentation of various building options by city CAO Daniel Gagnon.

Gagnon says the hub, which is to include an ice arena, walking track and swimming pool, would cost around $30-million dollars and city staff has been hard at work looking for funding support.

The three options were put together by IDEA, an architectural firm out of Sault Ste. Marie, with the options featuring different building methods, materials, as well as advantages and disadvantages of the different models.

Gagnon says the input from the public will be taken into consideration by council when they meet to discuss the next step in the project.
