OPP Community Street Crime Unit seize drugs and cash in Webbwood
A drug bust by the Manitoulin OPP has led to charges and confiscation of drugs and money.
Constable Tessa Kasch says on Wednesday, the OPP Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Main Street in Webbwood.
She says the search led to the seizure of over $2.000 in cash, over 52 grams of suspected Fentanyl and over 67 grams of suspected crystal meth with an estimated street value of over $36,000.
She says two men, a 37-year-old and a 30-year-old, both from Webbwood, have been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The 36-year-old is also charged with failing to comply with a release order.
The two will appear in Espanola court to answer to the charges later this year.
OPP lays assault charge against driver
A Quebec trucker has been charged with assault following a traffic stop on Highway 17.
East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says traffic officers were on the road in Huron Shores on Wednesday morning they pulled over a transport.
She says according to the officers the truck was passing another vehicle and crossed into the eastbound lane, nearly causing a head-on collision with a westbound tractor-trailer.
Gauthier says the driver provided a valid driver’s licence but allegedly refused to surrender the vehicle documents, became visibly upset and threw a logbook at the officer.
She says the 41-year-old from Quebec was charged with assaulting an officer with a weapon.
She adds the man is to appear in Elliot Lake court on April 7th.
