The chief and council of Mississauga First Nation are calling on members of the community to represent the local flag in the right light.
Chief Bob Chiblow says it was brought to council’s attention that the Mississauga First Nation flag was represented at the recent protest in Ottawa.
He says while the council encourages community members to share their beliefs, Mississauga First Nation did not endorse or support this use of the flag.
Chiblow stresses members share a variety of beliefs, but they would like to make it clear they support scientific methods that have been lifesaving during the pandemic, as well as local, provincial, and federal guidelines related to the health and well-being of all.
