An Espanola woman is going dry for February to raise funds for the Cancer Cancer Society.
Jocelyne Bousquet of Espanola says she enjoys her beverages but emphasizes giving up a month of alcohol is nothing compared to what fighting cancer must be like, adding it is time to change the conversation surrounding what the world is going through with the pandemic.
She says the pandemic is horrible with so many people have passed away and cancer patients having surgeries cancelled or postponed.
To that end, she is taking part in the society’s DryFeb initiative and with no personal travel plans due to COVID, will focus on the campaign instead in February.
Bousquet adds she loves her wine spritzers but helping those with cancer in their battle is her prime motivator.
