Ehrhardt: No regrets at Pan Am Games

She’s not coming back with a medal, but Caroline Ehrhardt of Espanola says she had the time of her life at the Pan-Am Games.  The four-time Canadian champ finished well out of the running in the women’s triple jump.  Going into the competition Ehrhardt says she knew she was a long shot because her competitors had jumps of 1.5 metres longer than hers.  But she adds just being at the games was a dream come true.  Even though she didn’t win, young children at the games asked her for her autograph and pictures afterward.  She hopes she’s inspired young girls to take up the triple jump and if they do, that’s a big reward in itself.  Ehrhardt is taking a few weeks off but very soon she’ll be jumping again to qualify for next year’s Summer Olympics.
