Chilly start to three-month snowshoe trek

Lure of the North operators and their companions have survived the first five days of their three-month snowshoe trek in the North.

Operator Dave Marrone says despite the last five days of very cold weather and snow, they have navigated the hilly terrain of the trails near White River and are back on the frozen waterways.

He says everyone had a well-deserved rest yesterday playing cards, sewing gear and cutting more firewood adding they are heading up the Shirwamkwa River today to put in another 20 kilometres.

The three-month trek is an adventure for Dave and his wife, Kielyn, to show the participants all the fun that winter has to offer snowshoeing from Lake Superior to James Bay at Moosonee
