East Algoma OPP investigating collision leaving a 10-year-old passenger in critical condition
A ten-year-old is in critical condition following a rollover on Highway 17.
East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says Thursday afternoon, police and emergency services responded to a single car rollover on Highway 17 in Huron Shores.
She says the investigation revealed a westbound left the roadway, entered the north ditch, and rolled numerous times.
She says the 10-year-old rear seated passenger was ejected from the car and was transported to Sault Area Hospital in critical condition while the front passenger was taken to Thessalon Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gauthier says the 37-year-old female driver from Blind River has been arrested and faces several charges including impaired driving, operating a vehicle and causing bodily harm, breach and driving with a passenger under 16 failing to wear a seatbelt.
She says the accused appeared in Blind River court on Friday and has been remanded into custody.

OPP arrest same person in multiple mischief calls
East Algoma OPP has arrested a man from Spanish after receiving several mischief calls.
Constable Phil Young says last Friday evening officers were called to the hospital in Elliot Lake.
He says the complainant reported an upset person who had pulled the fire alarm.
The man was found, charged and released.
Young says the next morning, shortly after 4 am, police received an alarm call for a bank on Front Street in Spanish.
He says police arrived at the scene, saw a large pane of glass had been smashed and a person sitting inside who was the same person involved in the hospital incident.
Young adds a 45-year-old man from Spanish was arrested and has been charged with mischief, false fire alarm, break and enter, and two counts of breach of a court order.
He adds the accused appeared in Blind River court on Saturday and has been remanded into custody.
