Officer faces charges over OPP helicopter comments

Speaking negatively about relocating the OPP helicopter in Sudbury to Orillia has proved costly to a veteran OPP sergeant.  Dan Mulligan is now charged under the Police Services Act for breach of confidence and discreditable conduct.  Mulligan says people could die if the chopper has to fly back north during an emergency because it’s further away.  His comments were in a letter to the editor in the Sudbury Star.  Mulligan says the comments are his personal opinion and adds he was not speaking as a police officer. OPP officials say they can’t comment on the issue.
