Jackleg competition popular during 60th anniversary

Denison Mines in Elliot Lake has recorded some great responses for the jack leg competition.  The event was a major highlight of the community’s 60th anniversary and residents enjoyed its return.  When mining was alive and well in town, the jack leg contest was always a big draw during Uranium Festival.  Organizers agreed to try and bring it back and in total 17 miners, some who live in town but work at other mine camps, took part.  Spectators say it was great to see the contest again because it created new memories for old timers and gave newcomers an idea of what’s involved in mining.
