Bishop Thomas A. Corston passes away

A long-time Anglican bishop has passed away and will be remembered at services later this month.

Bishop Thomas Corston served as the ninth Anglican Bishop of Moosonee from 2010 to 2013.

Corston was born in Chapleau, attended Chapleau High School and Lakehead University, and was ordained in 1975.

He held incumbencies in Gogama, Longlac, South Porcupine, Fredericton, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.

He was also the Archdeacon of Manitoulin for eight years until 2010 and his ascension as Bishop.

Corston died on January 7th after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bishop Corston will be interred in the Chapleau Municipal Cemetery, Chapleau. In agreement with his wishes, friends are asked to make memorial donations to the Diocese of Moosonee or to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Memorial Service in the Church of the Epiphany, 85 Larch Street, Sudbury, on Tuesday, February 1st at 11 am.

Invited attendees may gather at the church after 10:30 am Tuesday, February 1st.

He was 72.
