Lure of the North, an Espanola expedition company, has begun the training of participants to prep for a major winter trek.
Company owners, Kielyn and Dave Marrone, have several participants ready to take on a 90-day trek across the frozen northern landscape by snowshoe.
As of yesterday, they took the ten brave souls out for a four-day expedition to put their training to the test and see what they’re made of.
Kielyn stresses winter is not joke and it is important those taking part have the proper equipment, clothing and training.
The two are planning a snowshoe expedition starting out next Monday across a large area of Northern Ontario, from Lake Superior to Moosonee with food drops and checks along the way.
It’s a historic route says Dave adding it was one of the main traditional travel routes from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean.
