French Catholic school board helps Greater Sudbury charities

The staff at the Conseil scolaire Catholique Nouvelon board office donated just over $8,000 to five Greater Sudbury charities to help support those in need this Christmas season.

Conseil scolaire Catholique Nouvelon education director Paul Henri says the Sudbury Food Bank, Maison McCulloch Hospice, Neo Kids Foundation, ALS North East Ontario and Association des jeunes de la rue de Sudbury will each receive a donation of just over $1,680.

He says throughout the year, board employees are offered the opportunity to contribute $2 each week to take advantage of dress-down Fridays.

He adds families received Christmas hampers and schools also donated to Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child initiative.

Henri says the campaign wrapped up with donations of clothing and personal hygiene items to the Centre de santé Communautaire du Grand Sudbury and the Association des jeunes de la rue de Sudbury.
