Part of the north will take a big hit with the cancellation of passenger service at Algoma Central Railway. The service generates $38-million in economic activity. The group, Coalition for Algoma Passenger Trains wants people to ask the MP’s for the Sault and Algoma Manitioulin Kapuskasing for help. Sault MP Bryan Hayes says the federal government has a subsidy for an operator ready to take over service as long as any business plan is viable.
