Motor vehicle collision results in impaired charge

Manitoulin OPP laid an impaired charge against a southern Ontario man following damage to a parked vehicle in Little Current.

OPP Constable Tessa Kasch says police received several calls about a parked vehicle being struck on Vankoughnet Street around 4:30 pm last Friday.

She says police arrived on the scene and found a driver and had him tested for impaired.

A 26-year-old from Dutton, Ontario was charged with blowing over and impaired.

He is to appear in Gore Bay court on February 23rd.

Adopt safe winter driving practices – Manitoulin OPP

Manitoulin OPP is asking people to slow down and adopt safe winter driving practices following several incidents since the first snow arrived late last week.

OPP Constable Tessa Kasch says officers were busy investigating several incidents over the last several days on Manitoulin Island and the North Shore corridor.

She adds fortunately there were no injuries or deaths involved but is suggesting motorists slow down and adapt to the winter conditions.

Kasch also suggests taking extra time to clean windows and make sure lights are working before going on the road, adding travellers can access 511 by phone or on the website Ontario dot ca slash 511 for updated road conditions.
