Festive celebrations in Elliot Lake and Espanola

A festive weekend is in the works with the arrival of the first real snow of the season.

The 42nd annual stationary Santa Claus Parade is set for the City of Elliot Lake from 6pm to 8pm this evening

Entrants can vie for best prizes including best business, club and residential floats as well as best overall float.

Espanola will be abuzz with Espanola Elks Hamper Fund kicking off Saturday morning at 10 am at the Espanola Mall.

The club is seeking donations to pay for Christmas Hampers for around 200 families throughout the Espanola/North Shore area.

The Espanola Lions Club will co-host the Teddy Bear Toss at the legion hall from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm where kids toss their stuffies for the toy drive and take part in a Christmas party.

The day will be capped off with the stationary Santa Claus Parade tomorrow evening from 7pm to 9pm.
