Giving Tuesday expanded by Cambrian College

Giving Tuesday is a long-time tradition with Cambrian College providing financial support to students.

Brandi Braithwaite, Cambrian’s Director of Development and Alumni says this year, Giving Tuesday falls on November 30th.

She says the Cambrian Foundation is hoping to eclipse last year’s total of $83,000 for student bursaries and awards, and it is using a very creative approach.

She adds ten unique categories for student support have been created, nine of which have a community sponsor willing to match donations up to a set amount.

Like ordering from a menu, donors can choose as many categories as they want and make a donation on the spot.

“These generous donations allow students like me to be able to focus on my education without having to stress about how I will afford textbooks or my next meal,” adds Lynn Courville, President of Cambrian Student Council and a recipient of student awards and bursaries. “It allows me to work a part-time job and enjoy the college experience instead of having to work a full-time job and struggle in school.
I am able to focus on achieving my best while here at Cambrian! Thank you to all of the kind donors because, without you, more students would potentially have to drop out of school just to be able to afford regular living expenses.”

“I am truly excited about the new format and inspired by the generosity of our donors,” adds Cambrian College President, Bill Best. “The ability to target your donation and know that it will be matched by a generous community donor means that you will double your impact. Thank you to all who partner with us in the success of our students. Your contributions make a big impact.”
