There have been a rash of thefts in Espanola over the past few weeks.  In two cases thieves stole items in cars that were not locked.  In one car a woman`s purse containing $280, a $100 restaurant gift card and an IPod were stolen.  About $250 in items were stolen from the second vehicle.  Other thefts involve breaking into the Espanola Hydro Yard and stealing two chainsaws worth a total of almost $1,700 dollars and a $1,000 bear-proof garbage bin was stolen from the Lake Apsey pump house.  The bin was bolted to a cement pad.
