The number of swimming holes in the region is dropping. As a right now there`s no swimming at Clear Lake beach in Espanola. Town Hall closed the beach because of the plant Eurasian milfoil. The Sudbury and District Health Unit has found a large amount of the plants in one spot that could hide someone in distress if they got caught up in them. In Blind River, Old Mill beach is now under a swimming advisory. That`s in addition to Sellers Park in Blind River where the advisory continues. Algoma Public Health issued the advisories because of a high bacteria count. People can still swim in an advisory situation but you could infect things like your eyes, skin and throat.
