The Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Thomas Dowd, has arrived in Elliot Lake for a week-long pastoral visit.
Today he will meet with city officials at city hall.
One of his most important stops will be at St. Joseph’s General Hospital where he will meet privately with CEO then tour the facility and meet with patients.
He will also make visits to the local elementary separate schools and meet with various parish groups including a recently established Truth and Reconciliation Committee throughout the week.
Besides assisting with liturgies at Ste. Bernadette Parish, his evenings will be spent talking to the wider community on various topics at 7:00 pm followed by an open discussion.
