HSN’s new Children’s Treatment Centre officially opens

Health Sciences North’s new Children’s Treatment Centre and Infant and Child Development Services is now open at the Southridge Mall in Greater Sudbury.

Centre administrative director Natalie Kennedy says the centre is family-oriented and community-based providing assessment, treatment and education for some 2,000 children and young adults with communication and motor impairments.

She adds relocating to the new site with easy access to parking, transit, as well as food and retail services will be beneficial to the children and their families.

Ontario’s 21 Children’s Treatment Centres are funded by the Ontario government with most of them not located at acute care hospital sites.

Kennedy adds with the new site now open; attention will now shift to the construction of 52 new bed spaces at the hospital location, which are expected to be in place by December of next year.

She says the renovations in that space will now go to public tender.
