Longtime Manitoulin Island resident and former Billings Township Mayor Austin Hunt passed away Wednesday following a lengthy illness.
Hunt celebrated over a half-century of public service that included several years as Reeve and then Mayor of Billings Township.
In the 1960’s he worked as Lester Pearson’s regional campaign manager when the former Prime Minister ran in the local riding.
Funeral services are being finalized.
He was 95.
