There`s a Northern Ontario connection to the Pan-AM games starting this Friday in Toronto. The medals that will be handed out were designed by Christi Belcourt, a Metis nation woman who lives in Espanola. The medal design depicts Aboriginal traditions of welcoming guests. Belcourt is an accomplished artist and one her creations – a stained glass – can be found on Parliament Hill. Belcourt also designed the medal for next month`s Parapan Games.
