Espanola council approves donation to hospital

Espanola council has given its approval to provide a $20,000 donation to the Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre to continue with recruitment supports and related services.

Senior hospital staffers Jon Brunetti and Jane Battistelli reviewed hospital services with the council last night pointing out the facility has sustained a steady amount of physicians, even during the pandemic.

Brunetti says they are continuing recruitment for new physicians, but there will have to be an expansion to accommodate the growing need for services.

He adds the funding will assist the hospital in planning as well as providing accommodations for medical students, temporary physicians and other expenses.

Council unanimously agreed to the donation as part of its continued focus on providing health care in the community.
