An Elliot Lake nurse has been spending the last few years raising funds for two local schools and their student support programs.
Lynn Blanchette set a goal to of $10,000 for this year’s programming and exceeded it by an additional $2,500.
The donated money goes towards clothing, provides food opportunities like paying for hots lunches, pizza, milk programs and special meals for students, as well as access to after school programs and equipment.
The donation was shared between Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and Central Avenue Public School.
Several donors helped raise the funds including several local businesses and staff at the hospital,
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School Principal Andrew Chi says the generosity and caring coming from our community partners is incredible.
“The fact that so many individuals are going out of their way to ensure our young students are getting as many opportunities as possible is very inspiring. These funds will go a long way with supporting our students and we are very appreciative of all the thoughtful people involved,” he said.
Principal Angelo D’Amato from Central Avenue Public School also expressed his gratitude and appreciation.
“The spirit of giving is alive and well. Caring citizens is a pillar for ADSB, and Elliot Lake demonstrates that quality repeatedly.”
