Blind River bringing Santa Claus’s parade back to town

The Town of Blind River will once again be hosting a Holiday Parade.

The town has not held its annual Santa Claus Parade over the last two years due to COVID-19, but council has given its approval to host the popular event once again.

Director of Facilities and Community Service Karen Bittner brought the matter up before council after receiving a request from the local figure skating club for council approval to block off the parade route.

She adds the approved road closures will allow the club to move ahead with planning the event for November 19th starting at 6:30 pm.

Bittner adds parade organizers will also ensure all COVID-19 measures are in place for the parade.

The parade route will go from Riverside Avenue, westbound, including Huron, Scott, Lawton, as well as Causley at Woodward from 5:45pm to 8pm with the barricades approved by council.

Details of the parade will be posted in the town’s newsletter on the town website.
