Delays on Bass Lake Road addressed by CAO

The Town of Espanola is aware of concerns surrounding travel delays on Bass Lake Road while the installation of a major capital project is underway.

Town CAO, Allan Hewitt, says the public’s patience is greatly appreciated as the town continues with Stage 1 of the trunk main pipe installation project on Bass Lake Road.

He says the replacement of the trunk main is a critical infrastructure project that is required to maintain the town’s water service and supply adding he acknowledges there have been some longer than expected delays that took place without prior notification from the contractor.

Moving forward, Hewitt says residents can expect intermittent delays due to the closure of one lane of traffic of no longer than 15 minutes as the project continues over the remaining weeks of the fall otherwise a notice will be put out on the town’s website daily.

Hewitt extends his apologies adding as the project continues, they will work more closely with Belanger Construction to ensure the public receives as much lead time as possible for any planned delays.

Stage 2 of the project is expected to be completed next spring to complete the replacement of the trunk main from Vanier Rd. to Queensway Avenue. To monitor the Town website, go to www.espanola.ca or www.faceboo,com/TownofEspanola .
