Elliot Lake council unanimously approved the purchase of a large block of acreage for future development.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says he was directed to investigate the possible purchase of the land in late September adding there is plenty of opportunity for future development.
Gagnon says the purchase is for around 42 acres (17 hectares) for sale by Rejean Cyr Logging Limited is located near Highway 108 across from the Elliot Lake boat launch off Milliken Mine Road adding it could be best described as the base of Beaver Mountain.
Council gave its approval to purchase the property for $250,000 plus taxes with a closing date of December 3rd, 2021.
