Lasalle kicks off Around Australia walking challenge in support of Finlandia Village

Lasalle Secondary School has officially kicked off its 5th annual SISU fundraiser to help build a greenhouse.

School principal Maureen McNamara says this year’s goal is to raise more than $10,000 to support a greenhouse at Finlandia Village in Sudbury to cultivate food and herbs for residents.
She adds some 550 competitors started walking at least 10,000 steps per day on October 18th and will do so until November 5th, in a virtual trek Around Australia.
McNamara says they will venture From Darwin to Sydney, to Perth and Port Hedland virtually monitoring their progress using pedometers provided by event partner Sling-Choker Manufacturing.
She adds the public is invited to join in the journey and raise funds and every student has also adopted a senior to walk with, decorated school windows and more.
