Hydro One moves planned outage a day ahead

Hydro One has announced it is moving a planned outage for Manitoulin Island a day ahead.

Utility spokesperson Alicia Sayers says the outage was originally planned for the entire Island for this coming Saturday, but to accommodate businesses and events, the date is being moved ahead to Sunday.

She says most of Hydro One’s electricity system was built in the 1950s and 1960s, which means it is time to invest in renewing critical infrastructure to ensure the safety and resiliency of the system, which requires upgrading.

Sayers adds it will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and affect just over 10,000 customers.
