Making sure kids have breakfast

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board recently accepted a donation from the membership of Local 2251 of the United Steelworkers for the board’s breakfast program.

USW Local 2251 President Mike DaPrat presented a cheque for $6,250 to Director of Education Rose Burton Spohn and Superintendent of Education Christine Durocher, who oversees the board’s breakfast program.

Durocher says the donation will help to ensure students access nutritious food every morning.

The donation from the local will augment current breakfast program funds which are distributed to all the board’s nineteen schools including Sacred Heart in Espanola and St. Mary in Massey, Our Lady of Lourdes in Elliot Lake and St Mary’s in Blind River.
