Espanola council to record all meetings including closed sessions

COVID-19 has changed the way councils host their meetings, but to protect the council some changes had to be made affecting closed meetings in Espanola.
Espanola council agreed to continue providing their live link on their home page and archive the meetings to YouTube for the public to review at any time.
Council has also decided to video and audio tape their closed sessions, but those tapes will be kept securely on file.
Council agreed the town clerk will be responsible for authorizing access to such records in accordance with applicable legislation.
The move will provide legal protection to councillors and the municipality but also protect individuals or private matters protected by the Municipal Act and other legislation.
