Darla Hennessey makes a move towards retirement

Elliot Lake’s long-time curator, recreation manager and volunteer, Darla Hennessey, has announced she is retiring.

Council was saddened to accept their Recreation and Culture Manager’s letter of resignation at this week’s meeting.

Hennessey has filled various job positions with the city over the last 25 years including curator of the Elliot Lake Nuclear and Mining Museum, as well as recreation specialist hosting and organizing many events over the years and volunteering throughout the wider community.

Mayor Dan Marchisella summed up the feelings of his fellow council stating no words can say the amount of appreciation he and his family has for her dedication and devotion to the municipality.

With the resignation, council will now discuss the process of filling the vacant position providing an update at a later meeting.
