The MP for Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing says it’s not too late for the feds to do the right thing with passenger rail service in Algoma. Carol Hughes was reacting to a $2.2 million federal subsidy that ends this month to Algoma Central Railway. Hughes says the subsidy is well spent money and it creates a lot of economic activity along the rail line. The subsidy was to help CN offset the cost of running the ACR line. Hughes says the Harper Tories spend $2 million dollars every 10 days promoting themselves. But when it comes time to helping a region, Hughes says the feds claim they’re broke.
