Social services breaks ground at site of new building

A ground-breaking ceremony will take place to mark the beginning of the construction of new headquarters for social services in the Algoma District.

District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board CEO Mike Nadeau says the ground-breaking ceremony will take place today at the site of the new headquarters at 540 Albert Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

He says the new building will allow the joining of all Social Services divisions, including Housing Services, Early Years, Ontario Works and Corporate Services, into one physical space, adding in turn, that will allow the organization to streamline services, create cost efficiencies throughout all operations, and improve access to services for clients and the community.

Nadeau adds city Mayor Christian Provenzano, Board Chair Luke Dufour and James Roach from the Indian Friendship Centre will all take part.
