2021_09_23 The worst time to get sick

I don’t know if there is a ‘worst’ time to get sick, but on your birthday in the middle of a pandemic is up there.
I’ve had a brutal cold for the past week. It’s been non-stop. But I finally got back on air today, sniffles and all. Don’t worry… I’m not harming anyone. I got a negative covid test, and the nurses told me I’m safe to go back to work.
As I said though, I spent my birthday sick as a dog. Not the ideal birthday present.
To cheer me up, I reminded myself of the best birthday present I ever got.
When I was 12, my brother took me to a Toronto Maple Leafs rookie game. We had a road trip, a nice dinner and then the actual game. While we were enjoying a rare Leafs win, I got hit in the head with one of the pucks. This turned out to make the best birthday present. After getting checked on by the nurse, I got a standing ovation from my section of the crowd AND the puck that hit me.
