The community is invited to the dedication of Espanola’s “B” Softball Diamond in memory of Roberta Vincent.
Town EDO Cheryl Kennelly says Espanola council approved the dedication in late 2020 and due to provincial COVID restrictions, delayed the ceremony until now.
Kennelly says for more than 25 years Vincent was an integral part of women’s softball in Espanola and around the greater North Shore area, not only as a long-time President of the Espanola Women’s Softball League, but also as a mentor and coach of many young women over four decades.
She adds Vincent is also remembered by students and staff as a First Nations Guidance Councillor at Espanola High School.
The dedication is set for Saturday, October 2nd at 9:30 am.
Vincent passed away in April of 2011.
