If you sell opioids and someone dies, you could face serious charges

The OPP is sending a strong message that if you sell opioids to someone and they die, you can face charges of manslaughter or criminal negligence causing death.

OPP Interim Deputy with the Investigations and Organized Crime Paul Beesly says they are cracking down on opioid drug dealers since the police service has noticed a significant spike in deaths.

He adds eight people in Ontario have been charged with a criminal offence after a fatal overdose.

Beesly adds other police services across the province are collectively sending the same message – there is no excuse for selling, distributing or trafficking drugs such as fentanyl when the deadliness of this drug is very well-known.

OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their local police. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information at p3tips.com.
