Suspended sentence for mother charged in triple-fatal New Year’s crash

The mother of three children who died in a New Year’s Day car crash in 2020 has received a suspended sentence.

Uche Osagie received a suspended sentence on August 12th after she pleaded guilty in court to careless driving causing bodily harm.

Originally, she had also been charged with three counts of careless driving causing death, but those charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

The court heard she was driving a car on Highway 17 when the vehicle left the roadway.
