Laurentian University reverses position – will require vaccination

Previously all three post-secondary institutions in Sudbury had stated they would not require vaccinations for students returning in the fall.
Cambrian College reversed that position early last week after discussions with Public Health Sudbury & Districts, the concerns of the rise of the Delta variant and increase in active cases.
Laurentian University has now also reversed its position and will now require vaccinations following its talks with the health agency.
University president Robert Haché says following the recommendation of Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, the Medical Officer of Health the university will require COVID-19 vaccinations for students living in residence, as well as varsity student-athletes, as of September.
As of yesterday, Collège Boréal has not changed its stance and continues to offer schooling without vaccination requirements according to the COVID-19 guide published on their website.
