Elliot Lake council plans for in person council and committee meetings

Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella wants council and committee meetings to return to in-person format by the fall.

At this week’s meeting, the mayor told the council he is looking for a staff recommendation for getting back to in-person council meetings or maybe a hybrid mixed version of that, so council chambers can be open to the members of the public that want to come in and ask a question.

City CAO Daniel Gagnon told the council some businesses are allowing people with masks or without to be roaming in the buildings.

Councillor Chris Patrie emphasized if the council will be meeting in person, he believes it should be mandatory that everyone present is masked.

Council agreed and city staff has been directed to draw up a live meeting schedule outlining COVID-19 protocols as part of in-person attendance.

The meetings will still be live-streamed for the viewing public.
