Anyone wanting either their first or second shot can attend at the Hall from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Health officials continue to step up efforts to convince unvaccinated Ontarians to get their COVID-19 shots, as the province gets set to enter Stage Three of the reopening plan tomorrow.

Brampton’s Mayor, Patrick Brown, says the COVID-19 situation has now become a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

Since May, 83 percent of the coronavirus infections and deaths have been among those who have received only one shot or none at all.

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, Doctor Kieran Moore, has already warned that another surge in case numbers can be expected in September, as cooler weather forces more people indoors.

Around the world

The World Health Organization is reporting the first global increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths in nine weeks.

The U-N agency says more than 55-thousand people died this past week, a three percent increase.

New diagnoses increased by ten percent, with the highest numbers reported in the UK, India, Brazil, and Indonesia.

The organization attributes the increase to the relaxation of facemask rules and other precautions, the rapid spread of the more contagious Delta variant, and low vaccination rates.
