An Elliot Lake man says he had an unusual encounter with a bear recently.
A week ago Sunday, Cam Briffett says he was driving his truck up Spine Road when he saw a bear with its paws on a young woman who was on an e-bike.
Briffet says he got out of the truck and started yelling at the approximately 200 lb bear which then started pursuing him.
The woman then left on her ebike.
Briffett then began charging the bear and it retreated, and he was able to get back into his truck.
Briffett who is an outdoorsman says the bears’ behaviour was highly unusual but adds the bush has been dry and there is few berries this summer, so that might explain its unusual behaviour.
