The Special Investigations Unit is investigating a fatal single vehicle collision on Highway 64 in Lavigne. What’s known is a West Nipissing police cruiser was following a Jeep Cherokee when the officer lost the vehicle. A short while later police got a call about a jeep hitting a tree and bursting into flames. The driver died as a result of the crash. The SIU gets involved in cases where a person is injured or dies as the result of interacting with police.
