A report on Algoma Public Health shows the agency is weak and directors on its board were involved in conflicts of interest. Health minister Eric Hoskins released the report. A key recommendation to restore the health unit’s credibility is for the current board to resign. There’s also a suggestion that the agency should merge with its Sudbury counterpart. But the mayor of Sault Ste. Marie opposes that. He believes the problems at Algoma Public Health are solvable without merging or amalgamating with Sudbury.
