Swimming advisory for Old Mill Beach

Algoma Public Health has issued a swimming advisory for Old Mill Beach located Blind River.

Public Health inspector in training, Chris Glibota, says water samples are taken from Old Mill Beach every week and the results taken on June 28th contained high levels of bacteria.

He says it is unsafe to swim at beaches with increased levels of bacteria and when the sample results return to safe levels, the advisory will be removed.
Glibota warns swimming in water with high levels of bacteria can cause skin, eye, nose and throat infections, as well as stomach illness if water is swallowed.
