Serpent River hosts first ever Pride Parade

Serpent River First Nation hosted its first-ever Pride Parade in conjunction with capping off Indigenous History month.

Gimaa Brent Bissaillion, the first two-spirited chief in Ontario, raised the Pride Flag on the festivities held on Wednesday at Serpent River First Nation.

As part of the celebratory gathering, community members and invited guests, including MP Carol Hughes and MPP Mike Mantha, took part in the parade and the feast to celebrate what is to be an annual event.

The day was also spent in sharing stories and honouring the Elders of the First Nation.
