Someone has died in a single vehicle collision in Lavigne. And because the driver was being followed by police at the time, the Special Investigations Unit is now on the case. The SIU is called whenever police involvement leads to death or injury of a civilian. The SIU says a West Nipissing police car was following a Jeep Cherokee when the officer lost the jeep. Shortly afterward the jeep hit a tree on Highway 64 and caught fire killing the driver.
